David Kline has been at the forefront of shaping the television advertising industry’s evolution to encompass traditional, digital and streaming platforms and data-infused campaigns that deliver addressable and programmatic advertising campaigns at scale.

As Executive Vice President of Charter, and President of Spectrum Reach, the Company’s advertising sales division, David leads video advertising inventory sales on all Spectrum and affiliated cable systems and networks in 91 markets across 36 states.

During David’s four and a half decades in the industry, he spearheaded the launches of many industry firsts, including linear household addressability, interactive TV applications at scale, and data-infused media campaigns using automation and multi-screen deterministic attribution.

Other innovations include deployment of programmatic advertising across political ads in the 2024 election cycle and the reselling of local inventory from some of the largest streaming services inside Spectrum’s footprint. Spectrum Reach has modernized its total ad infrastructure and platforms to transact media campaigns in impressions, as well as traditional ratings across all platforms under David’s leadership.

Since David joined the Company in 2015, Spectrum Reach has dramatically grown its advertising business into a nearly $2 billion annual P&L, providing solutions for local, regional and national advertisers to deliver effective, addressable and programmatic campaigns across multiple platforms.

With the continued expansion of video ads on streaming platforms, Spectrum Reach is leading the industry in providing local, small business advertisers access to broader digital inventory through partnerships with the some of the largest streaming services.

David’s Early Career- David began his career in 1980 with Warner Cable in Houston, selling cable TV subscriptions door-to-door. He then learned the pay TV business as an affiliate representative for Showtime in the early 1980s, and went on to become Senior Vice President/General Manager for what is now Fox Sports Ohio. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Cablevision Media Sales (now Altice Media Solutions) for 15 years, as President and Chief Operating Officer of Visible World (now FreeWheel) then Chief Operating Officer for Ensequence before joining Charter.

More About David- David is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors for Blockgraph, and he serves on the Board of Directors for Ampersand, Comscore and the Video Advertising Bureau (VAB). He received a B.A. in a personalized study program focusing on marketing, finance, accounting and management from The Ohio State University.
